These photographs were taken on a short drive along the
Blue Ridge Parkway on Sunday October 29th 2006
It was a clear cold day with just a little haze in the sky.
The trip began from Prospect Hill in Waynesville, then south on route 276 about
10 miles to "Juke Box Junction" where we turned right on route 215.
Route 215 climbs the mountain and follows the winding course of the west fork of
the Pigeon River as it descends into the small town of Bethel.
At the ridge, 215 intersects the Parkway at milemarker 423.3. We then
followed the Parkway west to the exit for route 23 & 74 at milemarker 443.1
All of the photographs were taken with a hand-held Canon 30D camera fitted with
a Canon 28-40mm f2.8L zoom lens
The last picture is a view of the town of Waynesville from the Parkway

Some of the long distance shots would have been better with a tripod, but
I just did not have time to do that and make the drive in a single afternoon
